[Cancer Education] Haiku Education at Nanto Municipal Taira Junior High School

A special class was held at Taira Junior High School in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, to convey the appeal of haiku to junior high school students. Kiwa Hotta, artistic director of the organization, took the podium as instructor, and together with the Tonami junior high school students learned the depth of haiku.

The purpose of this class was to foster appreciation and imagination through haiku. Under Mr. Hotta’s guidance, the students composed their own haiku on the theme of nature and everyday scenes. Each student took the initiative and expressed his or her own feelings and observations. We plan to continue this activity in the future.
